Visiting Floating Village
Halong bay is not only the World’s most beautiful bay. It’s also a home of the ancient Vietnamese people with occupation by various cultures dating back some 18.000 years. There was many important historical relics from these peoples have been found here. Nowadays, Halong bay is famous of the fishing community. The fishing communities who live on the bay retain their own special culture. There are some villages in the World Heritage Site: Ba Hang, Cua Van, Vung Vieng and Cong Dam. Among them, Vong Vieng and Cong Dam villages belong to Bai Tu Long Bay in a less touristy area.
Among many activities in program, the one which is found to be the most enjoyable was the visit to the floating village. Each fishing village has about 30 – 50 families with the population of around 200 – 600 people. Because most of the rock islands in the area are too poor to be cultivated, daily life in the village is very hard and poor. Food and water are imported from the mainland; the main income is from fishing and tourism activities. The village is a true water world, rising and falling with the tides, sheltered amidst limestone towers. Visitors will see the floating school, where the children go. Visitors here are lured in by the beautiful fishing village – little houses on the water, groups of living house tied together to defend against storms and typhoons. The simple and honest fishermen and the sunburnt faces of the innocent little children – it is all peaceful and charming.
Cycling
Cycling is the activity that does not take too much time of tourists but it is really the best way to explore Cat Ba National Park. Tourists just have to ride about 10 amazing kilometers passing the mixture of topography from the sea to the plains and from the plains to the mountainous area. During the journey, tourist can admire the real beauty of Cat Ba Jungle’s nature as well as learn more about the lifestyle, the culture and the religion of local people in Viet Hai Village. Viet Hai village is the only place in Cat Ba Island where rice could be planted. Tourism activities have been developed there some years ago but it’s not too busy. The village still maintains its beauty and peace that make tourist interested in. The biggest advantage of cycling is the activity brings a lot of benefits for both our body and mind.
Swimming
Halong Bay is said to be one of the best place to swim in Vietnam with numerous beaches. The bay is an ideal not only for sunbathing with dazzling sunlight, but also the beautiful beach with calm tides, clean, and pure water. It would be even much more enjoyable if you have a chance to swim far away from the beach, maybe diving from a cruise.
Visiting Cave
With Karst terrain, Halong bay has many caves and islands. These caves are attractive destination in route visiting Halong bay. Some famous caves are known extensively by tourist such as “Dau Go” cave, “Thien Cung” cave, “Sung Sot” cave… Magnificent masterpieces of the Creator will definitely dazzle all visitors by the magical world of stalactites and stalagmites in various sizes and shapes.
